Udupi: Negligent riding, death of pillion - Bike rider sentenced to two years in prison

Udupi, Apr 28: Accused, who caused the death of pillion due to negligent and high speed riding of the bike, was sentenced to two years in prison and slapped a fine of Rs 11500 by the first additional CJ and JMFC court of city.

Accused Sudarshan Shetty is the one who is convicted in this case. He was riding the bike at high speed and negligent manner on October 21, 2017 with Jayalaxmi riding pillion with him. When the bike reached opposite Robosoft Technologies of Puttur village, he lost control and hit the scooter rode by Chandravati. As a result, pillion Chandravati fell on the road and died.

The accused did not take the pillion as well the other scooter rider to hospital and escaped from the spot. Udupi traffic police had filed charge sheet to the court.

Assistant public prosecutor Mohini K argued for the prosecution.
