Kundapura: MLA B M Sukumar Shetty lays foundation for residential school

Kundapura, Apr 27: “A new residential school will come up in Siddapura for studies of talented students in the villages at a cost of Rs 25 crore,” said MLA B M Sukumar Shetty.

He was speaking after laying the foundation at Meljedu, Siddapura for residential school under the aegis of Karnataka Residential School Association, Bengaluru, District panchayat Udupi, department of backward class welfare and Indira Gandhi Residential School on Wednesday, April 27, 2022.



“Asufficient amount of money has been obtained to make Byndoor a model taluk. A total sum of Rs 1,200 crore has been already received out of which Rs 600 crore has been earmarked for irrigation. It is decided to provide sufficient water for drinking and irrigation in Byndoor. Irrigation is in progress at Saukoor at a cost of Rs 85 crore. A sum of Rs 125 crore has been approved for Siddapura Varahi irrigation. Funds are expected to develop eight lakes in Byndoor under Narega project,” he said.

“Electricity is being provided to all the houses. The deemed forest problem will be solved in a few months. Akrama Sakrama will also be implemented,” he said.

Siddapura gram panchayat president Kulal presided over the programme. He said that the foundation was laid with the efforts of MLA Sukumar Shetty and minister Kota Srinivas Poojary.

Ulloor-74 gram panchayat president Rajesh Hebbar, Siddapur gram panchayat vice president Shobha Poojary, Karnataka Residential School Association’s AEE Ramu, backward class welfare department’s Doodpeer, manager Ramesh Kulal, social welfare department assistant director Raghavendra Varnikar, contractor Sadananda Shetty Koteshwar, district panchayat former member Rohith Shetty and others were present.

The residential school will come up in an area of 4.12 acres. The MLA honoured Narasimha Kulal for having donated his land for the school. The MLA distributed the title deeds to 29 people in the Siddapura gram panchayat limits.

Siddapura gram panchayat development officer Mahadeva S N welcomed. Staff Udaya Madiwala compered the programme.
