Udupi: Rotary Club Manipal Town to raise funds to treat Child Cancer patients along with MAHE

Udupi, Apr 27: About 50,000 children (under 19 years) are diagnosed with cancer each year in India. Although childhood cancer is a significant cause of death, it is curable if treated on time. On an average, the cost of treatment for a child with cancer is approximately Rs 3,00,000. As per the statistics, the majority of families are not able to afford cancer treatment due to financial issues and losing their children.

Rotary Club Manipal Town (RCMT)in association with the Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), Manipal will raise funds to treat underprivileged children suffering from cancer. RCMT is organizing a 'Cultural Challenge – 2022' on May 7 in the ‘Golden Jubilee Hall’, Canara Bank, Manipal. Several teams will compete for the traditional and folk-dance title, where the first prize is Rs 1 Lakh, second prize Rs 60,000 and the third prize is Rs 25,000. The funds collected by RCMT will be donated to MAHE, matches the funds received from RCMT, and keeps it in an endowment fund and the interest generatedwill be used to treat underprivileged child cancer patients at Kasturba Hospital, Manipal.
