Bantwal: Pulincha award conferred on five senior Yakshagana artistes

Bantwal, Apr 25: Pulincha award constituted in memory of late Yakshagana Dashavathari Pulincha Ramaiah was conferred on five senior artistes on Saturday night at Pulincha farm house open auditorium.

Convener of Kateel troupe Devi Prasad Shetty inaugurated the programme. Yakshagana scholar Dr M Prabhakar Joshi did the memorial speech and said that the memory of Pulincha Ramaiah Shetty, who contributed immensely to the field of Yakshagana is really appreciable one. He also said that Ramaiah Shetty was so experienced in Yakshagana that he used to speak according to the capability of the co actor.

Captain Ganesh Karnik was the chief guest. The programme was presided over by MCC mayor Premananda Shetty. Congratulatory speech was done by Prof Bhaskara Rai Kukkuvalli, executive president of Yakshangana Mangaluru. Bantwal MLA Rajesh Naik visited the programme.

The award was conferred on senior Yakshagana artistes Bellare Vishwanatha Rai, Bayaru Raghunatha Shetty, Kolthige Narayana Gowda, Jappu Dayananda Shetty and Mundaje Balakrishna Shetty.

Sridhara Shetty Pulincha welcomed the gathering. Pratibha Shetty rendered the vote of thanks. The programme was compered by Ashok Bhat Ujire.
