Udupi: Kadiyali gram bhajane concludes with Mangalotsava

Udupi, Apr 23: A month-long Kadiyali gram bhajane event concluded with Bhajane Mangalotsava on Saturday April 23.

The gram bhajane was organized as part of Brahmakalashotsava of Kadiyali Sri Mahishamardini temple. The programme was launched on April 2.

Sri Vidyasagara Theertha Swamiji of Paryaya Sri Krishnapur math inaugurated the Bhajan Mangalotsava.

Addressing the gathering, he said, “During Dvapara Yuga, people used to practice penance to see or get the darshan of God. During Treta Yuga, people found God by doing Homa and singing Bhajan during Kaliyuga. These are the ways to see God. Udupi is a religious place and is full of saints, seers and spiritual, where Kanakadasa and Purandaradasa placed their foot. This is a great initiative of the Kadiyali temple renovation committee.”

Children dressed up beautifully as Meera, Bhakta Kanakadasa, Radhe, sages-saints and Purandaradasa. They were the center of attraction in the Dandi Bhajane procession.

Hundreds of members from different bhajan teams participated. The procession commenced from Sri Krishna Math and culminated at Kadiyali temple premises. The procession was carried out with singing of bhajanas throughout from different mandalis.

During the occasion, P V Shenoy, administrative trustee, Sri Lakshmi Venkataramana temple Udupi, Nagesh Goavaskar, administrative trustee, Sri Lakshmi Venkataramana temple, Puttur, Purushottam Shetty, president, Kadiyali temple Brahmakalshotsava committee, Nagesh Hegade, president, temple renovation committee, Dr Raviraj Acharya, Kadiyali temple management committee, K Raghavendra Kini, general Secretary, renovation committee and others were present.
