Udupi, Apr 23: Congress MLC Manjunath Bhandary has written to chief minister Basavaraj Bommai requesting to cancel the suspension order of Karkala taluk Mundkoor gram panchayat development officer Raviraj H.

Manjunath Bhandary has written that Raviraj H has informed him that the district panchayat chief executive officer has suspended him from service on April 21. He said, “The association of panchayat development officers has complained that though Raviraj H is a sincere and hardworking officer he has been suspended for political reasons under allegations of lapses in duty. They have written to me that they will go on indefinite protests with all the gram panchayat staff members from April 25 if the suspension orders are not withdrawn immediately.

“There are 165 gram panchayats in Udupi. If suitable action is not taken and all the gram panchayats suspend their activities at the same time, those will cause severe problems to the village people. Therefore, the concerned officers should be directed to withdraw the suspension orders,” stated Manjunath Bhandary in the letter to the chief minister.
