Panaji, Feb 5: Vasudha Creative Group-Panaji in collaboration with Directorate of Art and Culture, Govt of Goa is organising 'First Kavita Festival 2011' on 05th & 06th February 2011 at Shri Shantadurga Devasthan Sabhagraha at Dhargalim in Pernem. Kavita Festival 2011 is a first of its kind experiment wherein poets from Goa, Maharashtra, Bhopal, Uttar Pradesh, Jhansi and Karnataka will be showcasing their talents. According to the Vasudha Creative Group President, Shri Pandurang Gaonkar the festival is a unique blend of Poetry, Art, Dance and Drama. The main highlight of the festival is the 'SAVE TIGER, SAVE ENVIRONMENT' campaign programme. This experiment will showcase the blend between poetry and painting. Five young Goan painters Adi Vishal, Radima Jogley Naik, Hitesh Pankar, Vinita Chedvenkar and Shripad Gurav will be painting poetic paintings based on 'Save Tiger' theme poetries by noted Goan poets Vishnu Surya Wagh, Anant Salkar, Radha Bhave and Pandurang Gaonkar and Sadguru Patil.
The event will be inaugurated by Noted Goan poet Shri Ashok Naik Tuyekar (Pushpagraj) in the auspicious presence of Managing Director of GHRSSIDC Shri Nikhil Desai. Sanpanch of Dhargalim Shri Bhushan Naik will grace the ocassion while noted poet and media advisor, Govt of Goa Shri Vishnu Surya Wagh will preside over the function, The inaugural ceremony will witness traditional Goan folk dances by Shri Rashtroli Mahila Mandal-Tuem and dancing poetries by Impression group. The inaugural ceremony will follow the felicitation of award winning Goan writers and poets and a unique presentation of 'Musical Poetry' by Anil Samant, Pravin Gaonkar and others. The inaugural day of the 'kavita Festival 2011' will conclude with Poetry camp fire 'Kavitechem Dhumshaan' which will commence at 9.00 pm on 05th February 2011.
'Kavita Festival 2011' will also feature Grand Poetry Competition for Higher Secondary and College students. The competition will be held in four languages namely Hindi, Konkani, Marathi and English. The theme for the competition is Environment. Grand prizes of Rs, 3000/-, Rs.2000/- and Rs. 1000/- will awarded to the first three winners. In addition to the top three prizes, prize of Rs. 500/- will be awarded to all category winners. Students who wish to take part in the Poetry Competition are requested to carry their valid Indentity card.
The 'Kavita Festival 2011' will witness some of the big-wig names in the world of Poetry from the country. Youngsters and poerty lovers will get a chance to listen to the likes of Arjun Singh Chand (Jhansi), Dr. Suresh Bakkal (Uttar Pradesh), Govind Kajrekar (Maharashtra), Mahesh Darpan (Madhya Pradesh), Vishnu Surya Wagh (Goa), Melvyn Rodrigues (Mangalore), Dinesh Yadvik (Bhopal), Rajay Pawar (Goa) and Pravin Bandekar (Maharashtra) . The highlight of the festival is 'Master Class for Young poets' which will be conducted by noted poet Shri Vishnu Surya Wagh and Smt Nayana Adarkar. 'Laughter Challenge', Multi Lingual Kavi Sammelan and Grand Open Kavi Sammelan are the three grand 'Kavi Sammelans' which have been organised during the two day mega poetry festival. In addition to the listed events, there will be lot of surprise events relating to poetries.
A special bus service has been arranged by the organisers for all the literature lovers from Ambedkar Garden-Panaji to the festival location in Dhargalim, Pernem. The bus will leave at 3.00 pm from Panaji on 05th February and will return back on 06th February after following the closing ceremony.
