US Treasury Secretary warns countries 'indifferent' to sanctions against Russia

New York, Apr 13 (IANS): US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen on Wednesday sent a warning to countries that are not moving to snap financial ties with Russia or seeking to undermine sanctions imposed due to the war in Ukraine, media reports said.

"While many countries have taken a unified stand against Russia's actions and many companies have quickly and voluntarily severed business relationships with Russia, some countries and companies have not," Yellen said in prepared remarks to be delivered at an event hosted by the Atlantic Council, a nonpartisan think-tank on international affairs, CNN reported.

"Let me now say a few words to those countries which are currently sitting on the fence, perhaps seeing an opportunity to gain by preserving their relationship with Russia and backfilling the void left by others. Such motivations are short-sighted," Yellen said, as per the report.

While Yellen did not call out any specific country, some nations -- including China and India -- have not been in a rush to back away from Russia, given their need to import vast amounts of energy, the report said.

"Let's be clear. The unified coalition of sanctioning countries will not be indifferent to actions that undermine the sanctions we've put in place," Yellen said.

US is the world bully. US has no authority to impose sanctions on Russia after the illegal invasions and regime changes in Iraq, Libya and Ukraine.

Russia has no reason or right to invade Ukraine whatsoever. Soviet Union became Federation of Russia in 1990 on its own will and made all countries independent which were under soviet rule. If Putin is invading Ukraine now it’s because of his own selfish policies which are threatening the countries around him. So naturally these countries are seeking help from democratic countries of the west.

The US continues to make several big blunders and this will lead to the third world war and the destruction of the world. Here are the main issues: 1. The biggest threat to the world is China and not Russia. 2. If US imposes sanctions against India and other countries, they will only drive them all further into the Russian camp. What about Europe that buys 40% of the oil and gas requirements from Russia, will the US put sanctions against them too? 3. The biggest nightmare for the US is if Russia, China and India form an alliance. Though it is very unlikely at the moment, in politics everything is possible. 4. Lastly, the US should understand that it status as a super power is dwindling and the new super power will be Asia.

Unilateral sanctions aren't initiated by UN. Just like US invaded Iraq without UN backing. US actions aren't binding for any countries and US war lobby is funding and arming Ukraine to continue the war. Russia has every right to enter Ukraine as it was indulging in anti Russia actions, Neo Nazi units torturing and killing Russian origin people, Biolabs set up by Bidens, Obama and Clintons are creating contagious viruses to release in Russia and the world which is legitimate target for Russia to safeguard their sovereignty. Media and cancel culture propaganda is misleading people and Ukraine military atrocities on people are depicted as done by Russians as in Bucha. India should support Russia as we are facing same from Pakistani occupied Kashmir.
