Panaji: Anil Kamat’s Collection of Poems Released

Panaji, Feb 2: A collection of poems entitled ‘Chit’t Mhojem Add’ddota’ written by Anil Kamat Shankhwalker  both in Devnagari and Roman scripts has been released.


Speaking on the occasion Dr Bhikaji Ghanekar said that youths of today write very good poetry. The teen poets are not only thinkers, but they are incredibly courageous as they put their personal thoughts in their poems for the whole world to see .The future of poetry lies in the hands of the youths , he asserted.

Dr Ganekar further mentioned that poets should write on all subjects which concerns the common man and should not restrict themselves in writing on specific topic .Goa needs today the poets who would hold great values that have been handed down through the ages.

The President of ‘Ugte Molab’ Bharat Naik said that the poetry has got the strength not only of changing a person but also the society. It is the duty of every Konkani poet to preserve and promote Konkani poetry and keep it alive.

A good poem can tell the reality without hesitation in few phrases and thereby make a terrible impact, better than an article, on the minds of the people, said Naik. The former director of Doordarshan Yusuf sheikh said that Konknni language has got the status of official language because of the concerted efforts made by the great writers Gnyanpith awardee Ravindra Kelekar, Professor Manohar sardessai, Bakibab Borker, Chandrakant Keny, R V Pandit who are no more with us .It is now the duty of the youths to work tirelessly and take the konkanni to a greater heights, he added.

Anil shankhwlker is his speech expressed his gratitude and thanked ‘Ugte Molab’for taking initiate to release his book.Earlier Sunil Palker welcomed the gathering and compered the programme .The vote of thanks was proposed by Shoba Fulkar.

The programme was followed by the multilingual poetry meet, in which eminent poets like Dr Bhikaji Ganekar, Bharat Naik, Yusuf Sheik, Ashok Chodanker, Ramesh Ghadi, Sunil Palker, Anil Shankhwalker, and Nayana Adarkar participated.
