Udupi: MIC to conduct 19th edition of 'Namma Angadi' annual expo-cum-sale

Udupi, Apr 7: The most awaiting 19th edition of Namma Angadi event, is hosting by Manipal Institute of Communication will be held on April 8, 9, and 10 at MIC campus, Manipal after two years, said Sowparnika P Attavar, faculty coordinator and associate professor on Wednesday, April 6.

She was speaking at the press meet held at press club Udupi said, "Namma Angadi is an annual exhibition-cum-sale hosted by the final year post graduation students of Manipal Institute of Communication in collaboration with Namma Bhoomi and center for working children. Namma Angadi, in its true essence, is a platform through which rural artisans are given the opportunity to sell their products and showcase their skill set.

Kurma Rao, deputy commissioner will inaugurate the event on Friday, April 8 at 9:30 am.

The event promotes local craftsmen, thereby giving them a chance to survive against the stiff competition imposed by commercial brands and highlighting the fading impact of local and heritage crafts.

Namma Angadi is based on the theme of being locally loud, earthly bound and brings a diverse range of products from home decor to summery dresses to their newest launch, kids clothing launching for the first time ever, their kid's collection is made of materials like Jaipuri cotton and Kalamari.

Coming back with a bang, there will have board companies like IDP. Campco, Selco, Canara Bank, Abhyudaya Co-operative Bank as our event sponsors.

The Covid-19 vaccination certificate is required for entry into the event as a precautionary measure and it is open to the public from 9 AM to 9 PM for three days.
