Police Seize Beef on Goa-Karnataka Border

Panaji, Feb 1: Goa Police on Monday seized nine bulls, 64 pigs on their way to butchering and almost 10 tones of beef on Goa-Karnataka border.

Police said that the entire consignment was being illegally brought to Goa from neighbouring Karnataka state. Eight people were arrested at Mollem checkpost, 40 kms away from here.

Officials said that the raid was conducted after receiving inputs from Akhil Vishwa Jai Sri Ram Gau Sanvardhan Kendra, a Goa-based NGO which advocates conservation of cows and conducts awareness campaigns against cow slaughter.

Police said that they have seized two trucks which was transporting the livestock.
