Panaji: Two Cops Suspended for Aligning with Prostitution Rackets

Panaji, Jan 31: Goa police today suspended two of its head constables attached to crime branch for protecting prostitution rackets.

Officials said that Ulhas Malnekar and Pandu Gawas were placed under suspension on Saturday night after preliminary inquiry against them found to be guilty of sheltering the prostitution rings in the state.

‘The inquiry had revealed that duo was extorting money from the pimps running prostitution,’ superintendent of police (crime branch) Mangaldas Desai said.

He said that the department is conducting inquiry to ascertain whether they just accepted bribes or were actually running the rackets themselves.
