Russian Woman Rescued from Drowning in Goa

Panaji, Jan 31 (IANS) A Russian woman was rescued from drowning off Ashwem beach, a popular haunt for Russian tourists, lifeguards said.

A spokesperson for a lifeguard management agency responsible for beach safety in the state said 27-year-old tourist Mila Usenko Bakrainy had ventured into a 'no swim' zone on the Ashwem shore despite caution from lifeguards. The beach is 40 km from here.

"We rescued her using a jet ski and a rescue sled because she had already ventured far into the sea," the spokesperson said.
