Bengaluru: Prisoners visit in jails allowed from March 21

Bengaluru, Mar 17: The department of prisons has said that from March 21 onward, close ones of the prisoners lodged in the state jails will be allowed to meet the jail inmates.

Because of the fear of coronavirus spread, face to face meetings of the prisoners had been discontinued. Now, because of the fact that the pandemic risk has eased substantially and the number of cases has come down, subject to compliance with the observance of Covid control precautionary measures, during the prescribed time, visit of prisoners would be allowed.

The relatives, friends, advocates who come to meet their close ones have to contact the prison officers in advance through email, WhatsApp or telephone with details and register their names for visiting the prisoners. Thereafter, on the date and time mentioned by the officials, they should present themselves. The visitors should not be displaying symptoms of any Covid19 infection and should have compulsorily obtained two doses of the vaccine, the department stated.
