Bengaluru: BJP leaders lampoon talk of party leaders joining Congress

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Jan 27: Senior BJP leaders, responding to the statements made by D K Shivakumar and Siddaramaiah that many BJP and JD(S) leaders have evinced interest in joining the Congress, have wondered aloud who wants to board a sinking ship. The leaders say that these two leaders are involved with wasteful effort to save a party that is on downslide and their claim about the party hopping by the BJP leaders is an effort to create negative opinion about the BJP in the minds of the people.

Speaking at Bengaluru to media persons, Siddaramaiah said that he has never said that those who left the party would be admitted. He said that those who accept the policies and principles would be welcomed, and his statement made in the assembly that those who deserted the party to become ministers have no place in the party stands even now.

Reacting to Ramesh Jarkiholi's statement that 16 Congress legislators are in touch with him, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president D K Shivakumar, said that he prefers not to respond to the statements made by a person who is fit to be admitted into NIMHANS. He pointed out that a minister has confirmed that he had spoken to Siddaramaiah while another former union minister and chief minister aspirant has also admitted that people from his party are in contact with the Congress leaders.

Minister C C Patil, said that Siddaramaiah's statement welcoming those willing to come into the Congress reflects the desperation of that party leaders after they said those who left the Congress would not be re-admitted. Ministers Govind Karjol and Murugesh Nirani praised Ramesh Jarkiholi, claiming that he is an experienced and able leader having unique power to attract people. They said that the BJP has the potential to properly utilize the capability of Jarkiholi.

Minister S T Somashekhar said that the Congress leaders appear to be unemployed, going by the repeated claims of Siddaramaiah to rock the BJP. "Let him open the basket and show us what kind of snake he has kept under wraps. Till then we cannot believe what he has been saying," he commented. Minister, MTB Nagaraj, said that he is not in contact with anyone even though his friendship with former colleagues K Shivakumar and Siddaramaiah is unaffected.

Congress leader H K Patil, said that the BJP has lost its governing capacity and the party has lost its political balance. He said that decisions will be taken individually as and when the BJP leaders seek to join the Congress.
