Udupi: Minister Angara leads 73rd Republic Day celebration in city

Udupi, Jan 26: The Udupi district administration observed India's 73rd Republic Day at Mahatma Gandhi district stadium in Ajjarkad here on Wednesday, January 26.

The event was jointly organised by the Republic Day celebration committee. According to the State government order, the parade was conducted in Kannada.

Addressing the gathering, district in-charge Minister state Angara said that, “A food park will come up at Kambadakone, in Bynadoor taluk under RKVY project and 53 acres of land has been reserved for that purpose. The government has passed an order to open state’s sixth Rangayana, ‘Yaksha Rangayana’ at Koti Chennaya theme park at Karkala."

About 8, 52,560 health cards were issued under the Ayushman Bharath Arogya Karnataka. Udupi stands first in utilizing Janaushadi, he added.

"The district has achieved 98.40 percent in administering the first dose of Covid vaccine in the 19 years and above age group and 86.61 percent of second dose. The health department has completed 87.12 percent vaccination for the age group 15-18 years. Around 13,348 people received the booster dose.", said Angara.

Speaking of Varahi drinking water supply to municipality, he said the Amruth and ADB projects were under progress.

“Let us all put our efforts to preserve Indian culture, legacy, philosophy and respect the ideologies of our elders and let us work for the integrated development of the country”, added Angara.

The minister unfurled the tricolour in the presence of Udupi MLA K Raghupati Bhat, DC Kurma Rao, ZP CEO Dr Naveen Bhat Y, CSP Anshu Kumar, SP Vishnuvardan, Coastal Development Authority president Mattaru Rathnakar Hegde and CMC president Sumithra Nayak were present.

Sadashiva Prabhu, Additional Deputy Commissioner, welcomed the gathering.

Roshan Shetty, deputy director, Sports and Youth empowerment department proposed a vote of thanks.
