Mangaluru Jan 21: Former MLC Ivan D' Souza has demanded the resignation of Minister V Sunil Kumar and Kota Srinivas Poojary over the Bhramashree Narayana Guru tableau row.

Addressing the media here on Friday, January 21, Ivan D' Souza said, "Minister Sunil Kumar and Kota Srinivas Poojary have no right to continue in their post after the Bhramashree Narayana Guru Tableaux row. Both the ministers have defended the central government’s move of rejecting the tableau for the Republic Day parade. The minister who has entered politics by following Bhramashree Narayana Guru needs to rectify the issue."

"The  minister needs to clarify on the conspiracy hatched by the officials to replace Bhramashree Narayana Guru's tableau with Shankaracharya's and rectify it immediately. Instead they are making false statements to justify the move," alleged Ivan D' Souza.

"Minister Sunil Kumar has insulted Bhramashree Narayana Guru with his false statement which shows that he has no courage to approach the defence minister. Since the last 13 years Karnataka has had tableaux representations in the Republic Day parade. It’s unfortunate that minister Sunil Kumar is lying in this matter. None of the political leaders has the will power to rectify the issue and demand the slot back for Bharamashree Narayana Guru's tableau. The rejection of tableaux from from Kerala, West Bengal and Tamil Nadu are purely with political motives. This has not happened  with BJP-ruled states," said the former MLC.

Ivan D' Souza opposes closure of Shiradi Ghat

Ivan D' Souza has also opposed the closure of Shiradi ghat for six months. "There is no need for complete closure of the Ghat section as it is a prime connectivity to Dakshina Kannada. Instead there has to be an alternative solution," he opined.
