Bantwal: Man jumps from bridge, meets watery grave

Bantwal, Jan 20: Jaleel (55) from Karaje jumped into River Netravati from atop Panemangalore bridge. He ended his life in this fashion during late night hours of Tuesday January 18.

Jaleel left behind his motorbike, footwear and mobile phone on the bridge before taking the plunge at 11 pm. The locals who saw him doing this, searched for him. On the basis of the mobile phone, he was identified as Jaleel.

The body was recovered on Wednesday morning by local divers, Sattar and Mohammad. Reasons for the man taking this extreme step could not be ascertained. A case has been registered in Bantwal town police station.
