Bengaluru: Speculations rife about Horatti''s political future

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Jan 19: Currently, chairman of the legislative council, Basavaraj Horatti, has kept many people guessing about his future plan of action. Discussions are currently ongoing about Horatti, a veteran JD(S) leader, joining the BJP, but the party is silent on conditions put forth by the leader.

Horatti has become the council chairman with BJP support. His membership of the council will end on July 4. Horatti, who till recently was with the JDI(S), had resigned from the primary membership of the JD(S) citing the need to remain neutral after becoming chairman of the council. It is said that he is in a dilemma whether he has to fight from the JD(S), enter the fray as an independent candidate or become the BJP candidate.

Reportedly, the BJP leaders have offered Horatti to join their party and party leaders are in talks with him. However, Horatti is said to have put forth the conditions that if he joins the BJP, he should be continued as the council chairman and that if the BJP rises to power, he should be made a minister. The BJP leaders who are considering these options, are yet to arrive at a decision.
