Beltangady: Using house keys left in auto, thieves steal ornaments

Beltangady, Jan 17: An auto rickshaw driver had by oversight, left behind the keys of his house in his three-wheeler. The thieves who got access to the keys, opened the lock of his house and stole ornaments worth Rs 1.6 lac. This incident happened in Kokkada in the taluk on Saturday January 15.

The theft happened in the residence of Ashok from Balipagudde here.

Ashok had parked his auto rickshaw in Kokkada and then visited Puttur. It is said that he had left the house keys in his auto rickshaw. On his return from Puttur, he found that the keys were not in the auto rickshaw. He then went to his house and found that thieves had taken away his gold ornaments.

In a police complaint, Ashok explained that the thieves had entered his home by using the keys found in his auto rickshaw and then took away gold jewellery by breaking open the lock of the almirah inside.

A case in this regard was registered in Dharmasthala police station.
