Mangaluru, Dec 16: A mobile app has been developed to enable the farmers to undertake crop survey. The crop survey work for the Rabi season has been initiated for the year 2021-22.

The farmers have to download the app available in the play store and register financial year and season. Then, QR code has to be scanned and mobile phone number has to be mentioned. OTP is received to the mobile phone number. Once this number is entered, the app becomes active. Thereafter, district, taluk, revenue division, village, survey number, Hissa, name of the owner etc have to be selected and area has to be mentioned. Under the survey numbers, entire crop details have to be registered by standing within the confines of the borders. Photo has to be taken and information has to be uploaded.

This information will be used to decide natural disaster compensation payment, support price, identifying eligible beneficiaries under various schemes, crop insurance scheme, calculate seasonal crops and there areas, harvesting experiment, agriculture and sericulture departments scheme for beneficiary-centric schemes and to enter details of crops in the revenue records.

This is a golden opportunity provided by the government to enable farmers to record the crop details of their lands without any defects. The farmers have been requested to make the best use of this provision. Farmers of the district have been asked to enter all the details without scope for mistakes in the app to make the survey work a success.

For more details, nearby farmer contact centres, office of the assistant director of agricultural department or horticulture department offices can be contacted, said the joint director of agriculture.
