Kundapur: Hit by speeding car, pedestrian loses life

Kundapur, Dec 9: In an accident which happened at around 8.30 pm on Tuesday December 7 near the rice mill at Tekkatte in the taluk, a pedestrian standing near the highway was killed.

After a car moving in the direction of Kota at high speed knocked down a pedestrian identified as Sadashiva Shetty (64) from Manuru Devasa, he suffered severe injuries to his head. The car driver did not bother to stop and fled. Immediately Shetty was taken to Manipal hospital but he did not respond to treatments and breathed his last soon.

It is said that Shetty had come to his hometown to take part in the marriage function of a relative. Kota police who registered a case are investigating.

    My condolence to family of deceased. Hope police will be able to find out the car which killed the citizen. I suggest highway authorities to install cctv on frequent distance in highways to record such incidents. This is a must now.
