Bantwal, Dec 2: “Vittal station police have not conducted investigations into the suicide of a girl even after one and a half month. The girl had jumped in the lake after writing a death note. It is condemnable. What is the need of such an irresponsible police station,” asked former minister B Ramanath Rai.

“Nishmita (22), daughter of Vitla Kasba gram, Netrakere resident Babu Naika had written a death note mentioning the names of three people and ended her life on October 11 at Vitlakatte by jumping into a lake. The investigations of real suspects have not been conducted yet due to negligence. Do the people need such an irresponsible police station? Congress party condemns it. No legal action is being taken against the real suspects,” alleged former Karnataka minister B Ramanath Rai.

Speaking in a news conference at Vittal on Thursday, he said that only a case is registered against the suspects mentioned in the death note and no investigations are conducted. “Police have refrained from questioning the suspects properly due to political pressure,” he alleged.

“There were efforts to insult Raghu Poojary relating to hanging banners at Mangalapadav. No police action is taken against the suspects. There were communal fights in the presence of police personnel during a recent road accident at Soorikumer but the police have not taken action. They have detained two people who are not related to the incident. This has raised suspicions about the police sincerity. There is no action against the guilty but innocent people are made scapegoats. The police station that is not for the needs and justice of people is namesake,” he said.

“There were Jaleel murder suspects during the accident at Soorikumer. But they are not questioned,” he said.

Zilla panchayat former member M S Mohammed, Vittal – Uppinangadi block Congress president Dr Rajaram K B, Panemangalore block Congress’ Vittal Sandeep Kumar Shetty, Congress spokesperson Ramanath Vittal, city Congress president V K M Ashraf, Raghu Poojary and Nishmita’s mother Umavathi were present.
