Beltangady: Youth drowns when taking bath in river

Beltangady, Nov 29: Nabhan Ismail (19), a college student, drowned in River Somavathi near Devaragundi at Kutrottu in Nada village on Sunday November 28. He had ventured into River Somavathi along with friends on Sunday November 28, when the tragedy happened.

Nabhan was the son of Ismail, staying near TB Cross, Kashibettu. He along with friends, Siddique and Jainul, had entered Somavathi river at about 2.30 pm. He faced danger there and drowned in the river in spite of best efforts made to stay afloat. Even though his friends made all out efforts to save Nabhan, they did not succeed.

Nabhan was brought out of the river with the help of locals and taken in an ambulance to Beltangady hospital. But the doctors said he was no more. It is said that the police have questioned the two friends accompanying Nabhan. A case about this incident was filed in Beltangady police station.
