Kundapur, Nov 27: A poster of request from social activists had gone viral since the last several days to support an elderly woman belonging to Kota vicinity and Ganiga community lying helplessly at Udupi district hospital. Ganiga Yuva Sanghatane, Kota unit members immediately visited the hospital under the leadership of Vishwanath Ganiga Betlakki and visited old and lonely Kamalajji in the hospital. Kamalajji said that she had nobody to take care of her and was begging for living. She said that strangers had admitted her in the hospital and have been in the hospital for the last seven months without knowing where to go after getting cured.
Ganiga Yuva Sanghatane decided to admit her to any old age home and contacted six of them. But it was not possible as she is unable to walk and depended on others for her needs. Therefore the sanghatane contacted old age homes with home nurse facilities. But those demanded Rs 20 thousand to Rs 40 thousand deposits and between Rs 10 thousand to Rs 20 thousand as charges per month. However she could not be left in the hospital.
Therefore, they spoke to the elder's caretaking centre at Surgeon hospital, Koteshwar agreeing to pay Rs 20 thousand as deposit and Rs nine thousand per month. They collected Rs 21 thousand from the members and admitted Kamalajji to the centre on November 26.
Though Kamalajji is glad that she will be looked after well at the centre, the sanghatane has to pay the charges every month until she does her personal work on her own. Therefore, they have requested monetary support from kind hearted donors for the purpose.
Ganiga Yuva Sanghatane Kota unit honorary president Prashanth Ganiga, secretary Ganesh Ganiga Chitrapadi, treasurer Girish Ganiga, community’s Dinesh Ganiga Kota, Nagaraj Ganiga Saligrama, Rajesh Ganiga Achladi, Suresh Ganiga Shevadi, Kiran Ganiga Gendekere, Vijaya Ganiga Karkada, Ranjith Karkada, Nagaraj Putran, Jeevan Mitra team, Nityananda Olakadu and Taranath Mestha have cooperated in the noble work.
