Haveri, Nov 27: In a heart-wrenching report received from Byadgi in the district, a teenager and his elder sister killed themselves by using the same sari as a noose.

In this incident, dismayed by the death of her younger brother by hanging by using a sari, the victim's elder sister also killed herself by using the same sari. Nagaraj Chandru Chalavadi (16) and Bhagyalaxmi Chalavadi (18) committed suicide a few hours apart. The incident happened in Vinayaka Nagar, Byadgi on Friday November 26 morning.

Nagaraj was a SSLC student. His father had advised him not to loiter around in the company of all and sundry, and instead attend school regularly and study well. Nagaraj got agitated at this advice. When no one was around, he hanged himself on Friday morning. His elder sister, Bhagyalaxmi, came to the taluk hospital after learning about her brother's death. She was so much shocked by his unexpected demise that she directly went home when her other family members were still at the hospital, and used the same sari to hang herself to death.
