Udupi: Kasturba Hospital starts walk-in laboratory, sample collection services

Udupi, Nov 26: Kasturba Medical College and Hospital started the most useful walk-in laboratory and sample collection services in Manipal. Udupi District Health Officers Dr Nagabhushan Udupa H inaugurated the new service and said, “This new service will definitely greatly benefit to the patients and the public. Manipal has always been at the forefront of providing such community benefit services”. Manjunath, councillor –Eshwaranagara congratulated the hospital for introducing this time-saving facility.

Dr Sharat Kumar Rao, dean Kasturba Medical College said, "The Kasturba Hospital Laboratory is accredited with National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) is a Constituent Board of Quality Council of India. Now don't even have to walk into the hospital to get your lab tests done and the lab is conveniently located close to the Manipal bus stand."

Dr Avinash Shetty medical superintendent said, "Now one need not stand in the queue for a long time to get lab services and the test reports will also be provided digitally. Doctor's prescription is not required for common lab tests and referral doctors prescribed tests is also accepted here".

Dr CG Muthana, chief operating officer, Dr G Arun Maiya, dean -Manipal College of Health Professions, Dr Krishnananda Prabhu- associate dean, KMC, Dr Padmaraj Hegde Deputy Medical Superintendent, Dr Ravindra Maradi-director, Kasturba Hospital Laboratory Services, Dr Varashree B S –Head, department of Bio-Chemistry, Dr Sarita Kamtah- Head Lab Technology were present.
