Bengaluru: Konkani Samudai, Jayanagar celebrates Children’s Day

Bengaluru, Nov 24: On November 14, 2021, Sunday, the eucharist was celebrated with children as it was their special day. On this day, most of Konkani Samudai’s children and their parents from churches Christha Prabhalaya Church - Jayanagara, Christha Karunalaya Church – Jaraganahalli and Immaculate Conception Church - Doresaanipalya took part in the Tthanks giving mass, celebrated by Fr Joyson Sujay Vas SJ at 11.45 AM, in Christha Prabhalaya Church, Jayanagar, Bengaluru. The entire liturgy service including the choir, music, offerings and readings were put up by the Children.

The first reading was fluently read by Nashville Fernandes, the Keerthan was melodiously sung by Cleon Furtado and the second reading was effortlessly read by Michelle Furtado. The prayer of the faithful was recited by Rion Andrade, Shannon Monteiro and Jenith D'Souza.

Fr Joyson addressed the parents to prepare their children with good values and a prayerful life. He also addressed the children to be truthful, obedient and compassionate towards their parents.

Parish priest Fr Navin in his address congratulated Fr Joyson and all the Konkani parishioners for celebrating the eucharistic mass with the core participation of Children who beautifully took part in the entire service.

Vinod Monteiro, president of Konkani Samudai, in his vote of thanks congratulated Fr Joyson for his meaningful words, addressing children of the good values they need to possess which are beneficial for their future. Vinod also thanked the choir conductors and musicians who were instrumental in bringing out the best of the children, all for the glory of God. The sponsors of refreshments and offerings were also thanked.

Soon after mass, the winners of Bal Saanth - 2021 and Bal Kalavidh - 2021 were declared, and the prizes and mementos were distributed. Children took part wonderfully in the competition in saintly attires and everyone was encouraged to script in Konkani. In Bal Saanth category, The first prize was won by Neil Rhian for portraying St Joseph, the second prize was won by Cianna Furtado for portraying St Theresa and the third prize was won by Synora Ashel Thoras for portraying St Joseph Vaz. In Bal Kalavidh category, the first prize was bagged by Anvita Monteiro and the second prize by Cleon Furtado. Children beautifully exhibited their talents and all were given participation certificates.

Vinod Monteiro thanked everyone for making the day a memorable day to cherish.
