In the kharif season for the year 2021-22, FAQ quality normal paddy has been ordered to be procured at Rs 1,940 per quintal and grade A paddy at Rs 1,960 per quintal. Red species of the paddy is excluded.

Steps have been undertaken to open farmers’ registration centres in the Agricultural Produce Market Committee yards in Udupi, Karkala and Kundapur taluks. Steps to include local red species of paddy will be taken under the minimum support price scheme after directions for the same are received from the government, said deputy commissioner of the district, M Kurma Rao, through a release.

The deputy commissioner said that it is reported that due to untimely rains, paddy crop raised by farmers has been damaged.
