Madikeri, Oct 26: A young lady who was on a tour of Kodagu district collapsed inside the bathroom of a homestay facility in the town on Sunday October 24.

Vighneshwari Eshwaran (24), native of Toranagal in Ballari district and employed in a private company in Mumbai, had come here to visit different places. The incident happened in a homestay located near the fire brigade office. A case of unnatural death was registered in the town police station here.

It is suspected that carbon monoxide released by the gas geyser inside the bathroom would have taken away the lady's life. The policemen have taken up a probe.

Vighneshwari, who left Mumbai along with four friends, had arrived at Bengaluru and then at Madikeri on Saturday. On Saturday and Sunday, the group of friends visited different tourist spots. It is said that the friends were planning to visit Mandalapatti on Monday morning.

Vighneshwari went to the bathroom to take a bath at 9 pm on Sunday. The other girls, who were worried at the fact that she did not come out for long, checked and found that the woman had collapsed to the ground. Immediately the neighbours were informed and she was taken to a private hospital in the town. The doctors who checked her confirmed that she was no more.

The police visited the spot and conducted inquest. Father of the girl, Eshwaran, came to Madikeri on Monday and registered a complaint in the town police station. He stated that his daughter was physically fit and did not have any health problems. He said she had informed him about the plan to go to Madikeri.
