Mangaluru: Murderous attack - Two held

Mangaluru, Oct 23: In connection with the murderous attack on Rajesh Shetty within Kavoor police station limits in the city recently, the police have arrested the accused, Zainul Abid (24) from Kavoor Shantinagara, and Sahul Hameed Safwan (26) from Panjimogaru.

Rajesh Shetty, working in the lorry yard at Kottara Chowki on October 13, was returning home after work at around 9.30 pm in his motorbike. When he was passing through the road near the concrete bridge in Maladi, the accused reportedly followed him in a motorbike and dashed against his vehicle twice. After Rajesh fell down, they had attacked him with a sharp weapon. A complaint in this regard was registered in Kavoor police station.

Accused Zainul Abid faces a case of assault in Kavoor station registered in 2019 while Sahul Hameed Safwan faces cases of assault filed in 2015, 2017, and 2019. Sources said that as per the police investigation so far, the enmity was kindled due to dispute about online game between boys, which turned into communal enmity and hence reached the stage of murder attempt.
