Mangaluru: Hajabba to receive Padma Shri honour on November 18

Mangaluru, Oct 21: Educationist Harekala Hajabba, who had been listed as one of the 'Padma Shri' awardees for 2020, has received official invitation to come to Delhi to receive the award on November 8. He received the official invitation of the union home ministry by way of mail on Wednesday October 20.

Hajabba, who sold oranges, created a revolution in the field of education by opening a school in his native place, Harekala, from his savings, and contributing to its growth year after year. The Padma Shri award for Hajabba had been announced on January 25, 2020, but the function had not been held because of Covid situation.

Hajabba will leave for Delhi on November 7. Hajabba has received several honours and awards for his achievements and he has used all the money he has received so far, for the growth of the school he had started.

    Finally national awards and recognitions getting a real value when it's honored on really deserving Indians like Hajabba. He deserves much more. I hope his tribe will take him and the likes like Abdul Kalam as their role models and try to walk their path.
