Puttur, Oct 20: A jeep of Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) was locked and a fine was imposed for violating the rule that vehicles other than buses should not enter the bus stand.

The new bus stand at Uppinangady is under the control of Uppinangady gram panchayat. Both the government and private buses use the same bus stand. As the number buses using the bus stand are more as compared to the space available, entry of other vehicles has been barred and a board containing this rule has been prominently displayed at the entry point.

Overlooking this board, a vehicle of KSRTC inspecting staff entered the bus stand and was parked inside the bus stand. After the gram panchayat received a complaint, the panchayat development officer arrived at the bus stand and locked its wheel. The vehicle was released after the prescribed fine was paid.
