Udupi: International Breast Cancer Awareness month held at Kasturba Hospital

Udupi, Oct 18: The month of October is observed as International Breast Cancer Awareness month all over the world. As a part of this Kasturba Hospital, Manipal organized breast awareness campaign and free painless Breast Scan (iBreast Scan) for early detection of Breast Cancer.

Dr Avinash Shetty, medical superintendent inaugurated the free scan campaign on Monday October 18 and said, “Main purpose of this campaign to create awareness on early detection and treatment of Breast Cancer among our patients, staff and community. Any cancer detected in early stage, chances of survival rate is more and it can be completely cured. As part of this awareness campaign, free painless Breast scan (iBreast Scan) will be done in Kasturba Hospital till November 15, 2021. General public are advised to take advantage of it”.

Dr Naveen S Salins, coordinator - MCCCC, Dr Suma Nair, head, department of Community Medicine, Dr Shripada Hebbar, head department of Obstetrics and Gynaecologyand Dr Karthik Udupa, head department of Medical Oncology were present.

Dr Karthik Udupa gave an overview on breast cancer and Dr Suma Nair gave an overview on iBreast Exam scanning for early detection of breast cancer. Suchetha Nayak was the master of ceremony for the programme. Free breast scan will be done till November 15, 2021 from Monday to Saturday with appointment only.
