Chitradurga, Oct 18: The police of Sirigere station have succeeded in cracking the case in which four persons had died in Isamudra Gollarahatti inBharamasagara revenue division. The police investigation has revealed that the elder daughter of the house had mixed poison to ragi balls (mudde) and killed four persons. One family member survived.

On July 12 evening, the girl's mother, who worked as a coolie, returned after work on July 12. She had kept ready vegetables, and other things for cooking the dinner. Power supply went off at that time. It was believed that miscreants would have added poison to a utensil on the hearth and killed the family members.

In this incident, Tippa Naik (45), Sudhabai (40), Ramya (16) and Gundibai (80) had died. Rahul, who fought the condition for months, finally recovered from the effects of poisoning in a hospital.

The police who probed the case from various angles, had sent the utensils and other food items used that day to forensic laboratory. Rahul had filed complaint as he had lost his father, mother, grandmother and elder sister.

The police intensively questioned the elder daughter of the house who they learnt had insisted that day that she would not eat ragi ball. She alone consumed rice and saru. She finally confessed that she had poisoned the family.

The family was very poor and she often was urged to work as a coolie by other family members to help the family. She also was scolded now and then. The 17-year-old girl confessed that she added poison to the food because of these reasons.
