Indian Equities Open Higher After Volatile Thursday


New Delhi, Oct 29 (IANS): Indian equities opened higher Friday with the benchmark sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) ruling with a gain of 45.28 points, or 0.23 percent, over the previous close.

The 30-share index opened at 19,986.32 points, as against the previous close at 19,941.04, and continued to rule at that level, some 10 minutes into trading. The Sensex had slipped below the 20,000-point mark Thursday on expiry of October futures and options series.

At the National Stock Exchange, the broader S&P CNX Nifty was ruling at 5987.70 points with a gain of 24.95 points, or 0.41 percent, over the previous close, data available with the bourse showed.
