Kundapur: DC’s 'Grama Vaastavya' programme resumes after second Covid wave

Kundapur, Oct 16: “'Grama Vaastavya', the programme of the deputy commissioner (DC) staying in villages to know the grievances of people suspended during Covid second wave has resumed at Jadkal village. The last person also is able to submit his grievance and obtain the solution in it. The campaign here is meaningful,” said deputy commissioner Kurma Rao.

He was speaking after inaugurating the ‘Jilladhikarigala Nade Halli Kade’ (The walk of the deputy commissioner towards the village) programme at Mookambika high school auditorium, Jadkal gram panchayat.

“Jadkal is beautiful by nature. The development works in the leadership of the gram panchayat here are commendable. The demands of people, work that should be performed on department level, by local administration and district administration will be combined to make the programme successful,” he said.

Gram panchayat president Vanajakshi Shetty said Jadkal grama is a large grama that combines Jadkal and Mudoor. “The land for Mudoor gram panchayat building needs to be identified. The land for crematorium at Jadkal gram should be identified and handed over to the grama panchayat. There is a need for a primary health centre at Jadkal-Mudoor as it has several small villages. There were several beneficiaries under 94C. Their applications need to be approved. SRT files about providing basic facilities in the government schools need to be disposed of soon. Thirty cents of land is reserved at Halkal for the SLRM unit. As there is a backward class family staying close by, the land should be reserved somewhere else in order to avoid inconvenience to the family,” she said.

Additional deputy commissioner Sadashiva Prabhu, assistant commissioner K Raju, Byndoor taluk panchayat chief executive Bharathi, Jadkal gram panchayat vice president Lakshman Shetty, district medical officer Dr Nagabhooshan Udupa, Kollur Mookambika temple management committee member Jayananda Hobalidar, Sandhya Ramesh, Jilla panchayat project officer, Byndoor block education officer Mundinamani and others were present. Byndoor taluk tahsildar Shobhalakshmi welcomed. Land title deeds were issued to Baby Shetty and Nagaraja Shetty. Headmaster Rathnaker Devadiga compered the programme.

Raju Poojary, a local requested for bus passes for differently abled till a distance of 100 kilometres in private buses also. He said that a 5% package reserved for differently abled should be used for their development. The deputy commissioner said that the matter will be discussed in the meeting of RTO.

Locals demanded a new Anganwadi in the Mekke vicinity. They said that the land for crematorium at Jadkal gram panchayat limits is still not marked. The DC directed the tahsildar to mark the land within the next two weeks.
