Udupi, Oct 16: A team of youths from Mandya arrived at Malpe beach near here on bikes at around 2.30 pm on Saturday, October 15. When they were playing in the sea, one of their friends, Vishwas, could not be seen.
Other members in the group were Sudarshan, Ramesha, Chenche Gowda, Kartik, Akram, Basavesha and Sudarshana.
Acting on the alert raised by other youths, lifeguards at the beach searched for Vishwas and brought his lifeless body from the sea. It is suspected that he drowned due to high waves.
A case in this regard is registered at Malpe police station.
