Mandya: Two lose lives in road accident near Maddur

Mandya, Oct 16: After a lorry went out of the control of its driver, the vehicle ploughed into a shop dealing in poultry in Maddur taluk. In the incident, two persons died and another suffered grave injuries.

The accident happened in Maraliga village in Koppa revenue division of Madur taluk. Girish Shetty (50), son of Dasa Shetty from Keelaghatta village in the taluk, and K R Lokesh (44), son Ramayya from Kodihalli, Niluvagilu, lost their lives. Shop owner, Ninge Gowda, suffered critical injuries and stands admitted into the district hospital.

The lorry loaded with sugarcane was going to Koppa via Maraliga village when the incident happened. Girish had visited the shop to buy poultry while Lokesh and Ninge Gowda were inside the shop when the lorry went astray. Two two-wheelers were also damaged in the incident.

The locals, who were angry at the driver as they felt that excessive speed had caused the accident, thrashed him before handing him over to the police.
