Mangaluru: Webinar on breast cancer awareness held at St Agnes College

Mangaluru, Oct 7: October month being observed as the Breast Cancer Awareness month, the department of Commerce of St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru in collaboration with KMC Hospital, Mangaluru organised a webinar on breast cancer awareness on Thursday October 7. Resource person for the webinar was Dr Karthik K S, consultant surgical oncologist, KMC Hospital, Mangaluru.

Webinar was organised with the objective of spreading awareness on women’s health and well-being and how one can work to curb breast cancer and ailmentscertain to women.

Sheryl Preethika, staff co-ordinator of the webinar and assistant professor, department of Commerce, St Agnes College (Autonomous) rendered words of welcome and introduced the guest Dr Karthik K S to the participants.

Dr Karthik K S then led the session by defining what are the different types of cancer and how important it is for it be detected at an early stage to be given the best of treatment. Hehighlighted on the aspects of breast cancer and women who are prone to the illness. He also discussed on how we could detect breast cancer early and protect ourselves from major impact. Dr Karthik also discussed on having a healthy life style. He emphasised on how vital it is to follow a healthy diet, exercise and do the required tests to detect cancers at an early stage.

Dr Karthik addressed all the queries posted by the participants. Dhruv Kulai, senior marketing officer, KMC Hospital, Mangaluru coordinated the session. Sheryl Preethika expressed words of gratitude.

A total of 120 faculty and students had registered for the session. The webinar was appreciated by the participants.
