Udupi: Fit India Freedom Run 2.0, Gandhi, Shastri Jayanti celebrated at Christ school Manipal

Udupi, Oct 4: Fit India Freedom Run 2.0 and Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri Jayanti was celebrated at Christ School Manipal in association with Interact Club, Scouts/Guides/Cubs/Bulbuls and Rotary Club, Manipal.

School Correspondent Fr Frederick D'Souza, presided over the function. Dr Virupaksha Devaramane was the chief guest of the programme.

Diana Monteiro welcomed the gathering. The programme began with the Sarva Dharma prayer followed by one-minute silent prayer. AS a mark of tribute the dignitaries offered flowers to the portraits of Mahatma Gandhi and second Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri.

School correspondent Fr Fredrick D'Souza in his message emphasised on Ahimsa and encouraged and guided the students to follow the path of great leaders.

Chief guest of the programme - Dr Virupaksha Devaramane, opined the importance of mental and physical fitness in the present pandemic situation. He also highlighted on the famous quote of Lal Bahadur Shastri’s 'Jai Jawan Jai Kisan'.

The Fit India Freedom Run 2.0 was inaugurated by the Rotarian Dr Virupaksha Devaramane. The correspondent - Fr Frederick D’Souza flagged off the run.

The programme was continued at Rotary Bhavan by the Rotarians of the Rotary Club, Manipal. Asha Shetty, Interact Club coordinator of Christ School proposed the vote of thanks.

The programme concluded with the National Anthem.
