Udupi: World Tourism Day celebrated

Udupi, Sep 27: The district administration, department of tourism, Malpe development committee celebrated World Tourism Day 2021-22 along with Association of Coastal Tourism, Udupi at Atal Bihari Vajpayee auditorium, Manipal here on September 26.

Udupi MLA K Raghupati Bhat presided over the programme. He said that the department of tourism has incurred losses since the last two years. “The tourists are favouring local tourism these days. There are ample opportunities for beach tourism, temple tourism and health tourism at Udupi. We need to provide a good experience with better facilities. The state government has already brought about the tourism policy. There are several places in our district identified as tourism spots. We should develop them. People in our district should indulge in collective efforts to change their minds,” he said. Dr Kiran Acharya who has visited more than 100 places spoke about his experience.

Udupi urban development authority president Raghavendra Kini, Udupi municipal council president Sumitra R Nayak, coastal tourism organisation Udupi president Manohar Shetty, KMC Manipal orthopaedic department professor Kiran K V Acharya, deputy commissioner Kurma Rao M, district panchayat chief executive Navin Bhat Y, Udupi municipal council’s Uday Shetty, tourism department assistant director Clifford Lobo and others were present.
