Madikeri, Sep 27: Some people, it seems, adopt marrying as a hobby. After each marriage, they spend a couple of years together and then desert them for another girl. One such person is found at Dabbadka in Chembu gram panchayat in Madikeri taluk here, identified as Pradeep. He married Pavitra, daughter of Chandrashekhar from Peraje village in August 2017. After she gave birth to a daughter, Pradeep reportedly began to torture her. He said he was unable to meet her expenses and asked her to work as a coolie in the plantations. On the other hand, he gave her the choice of deserting him and going away from the house. It is said that he even held out the threat of slicing her and her child and throwing away the pieces into the rivulet.

Fed up by the way their daughter was being tortured, parents of Pavitra took her back to their home a few months back. Once Pavitra went back, Pradeep reportedly began to make preparations for his marriage. It is said that before marrying Pavitra he had married a lady and divorced her. After marrying Pavitra, he was working in a company in Bengaluru. Pavitra says that when in Bengaluru, he had married a girl from Kolar. Pavitra has now approached the court seeking divorce.

It is said that even before this divorce, the man is preparing to marry a fourth time. Pavitra says that Pradeep has an illicit relationship with an Anganwadi teacher. She also provided copies of the selfies clicked by Pradeep in the company of the said Anganwadi teacher to the media.

Parents of Pavitra said that Pradeep married their daughter by consistently following her and urging her to marry him by claiming that his first wife had been divorced and he had no parents. "He spoiled the life of our daughter. When we approach him, he says that the child of Pavitra should be subjected to the DNA test and that he does not believe in Pavitra or her child.

In the meanwhile, Pavitra and her mother Varija, have said that Pradeep is now trying to marry another girl at Kadaba. They have requested the girls not to get deceived like them. Pavitra says she does not know why Pradeep, who has officially married twice so far, behaves in this way. She has demanded alimony for meeting the expenses of herself and her child.
