Udupi: St Mary’s College distributes prizes for meritorious students

Udupi, Sep 26: Prize distribution for meritious students was held on Saturday 25, 2021 at St Mary’s College Shirva. Irine Mendonca, Principal of St Mary’s PU College Shirva, was the chief guest. Fr Denis Alexander D’sa, the correspondent of St Mary’s and Don Bosco Institutions, Shirva presided over the programme.

Principal, Dr Herald Ivan Monis, Vishwanath, president of St Mary’s College Alumni Association, Yashoda, director of Student Welfare Council, Dakshayini, president of Student Welfare Council graced the occasion.

 

The college choir group led the invocation, followed by a report which was presented by the Principal Dr Herald Ivan Monis on the activities of the academic year 2020-2021. He expressed his deep sense of gratitude to all responsible for making the college scale higher and making a mark in the society.

Irine Mendonca, chief guest in her speech said that students should listen to their voice that will always compel them to do better in life. She insisted students spend their maximum time working towards it. She further stated that the students always work hard to achieve goals that might seem unachievable. It is important to believe that everything is possible and work accordingly to make it possible.

Fr Denis Alexander D’sa, in his presidential remarks congratulated the winners and blessed them to continue to do so in their future endeavors. He expressed his overwhelming joy and happiness whenever students excel in their lives.

Vishwanath, president of St Mary’s College Alumni Association has instituted a generous contribution from the alumni association to the alma mater during this occasion.  

All the meritorious students were awarded. Lavita Moras, who secured IX rank in M Com and Satya Subramanya secured IV rank from Mangalore University along with Dr Gulabi Poojary, awarded the degree of Doctor of Philosophy from University, Vittal Nayak for clearing K-SET examination and Padmasini U for securing first rank and three gold medals from Mysore University were felicitated.

The college has renovated the BCA lab keeping in mind the need of the present generation. On this occasion Very Fr Denis Alexander D’sa, blessed the renovated BCA lab and prayed for the future endeavors of the college.

Yashoda, director of the Student Welfare Council welcomed the gathering. Dakshayini, president of the Student Welfare Council proposed vote of thanks.

Sushma compered the programme. Teaching, administrative staff and parents of the rank holders were also present.
