Udupi: Fisherman loses balance, falls into sea, loses life

Udupi, Sep 22: A fisherman named Shiva Kunder (45), said in a report filed in Malpe police station that a team of 35 fishermen had undertaken fishing by using Kairampani fishnet with the help of country boat at 3.45 pm on Tuesday September 21 at the Thottam Pottalive seashore. He explained that when a team of several fishermen riding a boat were spreading the net in the sea one of the fishermen, Rajesh Shriyan (37), lost his balance due to the force of the waves, fell into the sea and drowned. He said that another fisherman, Umesh, immediately jumped into the sea and brought Rajesh out of the water. He was brought to the shore and rushed in an unconscious state to Hi-Tech Hospital Udupi in a vehicle. The doctors at the hospital who checked, said that Rajesh was no more, he said.

A case under section 174 of Criminal Procedure Code was registered in Malpe police station. Investigation is on.
