Mysuru: HJV activists assault Urdu daily chief editor

Mysuru, Sep 17: It is reported that on Thursday September 16, activists of Hindu Jagarana Vedike assaulted a person who was reporting an agitation programme held in protest against the demolition of a temple in Nanjangud by the administration.

Chief editor of an Urdu daily, 'The Daily Kausar', Mohammed Safdar Kaiser, came under attack from the activists.

Hindu Jagarana Vedike and the BJP had held a protest in the city, to register protest against the temple demolition. When MLA S A Ramadas, came there, the protesters expressed their unhappiness at him. They also raised slogans against the BJP. Kaiser, who was recording the proceedings on the video camera, was attacked by the activists who also jostled him, it is said.

The District Journalists Union has strongly condemned the attack on Kaiser. President of the union, S T Ravikumar, in a letter sent to the city police commissioner, sought action against the accused.
