Mangaluru: CODP organizes awareness on SPARSHA Campaign against Cancer, Covid-19

Mangaluru, Sep 16: An awareness program on Sparsha Campaign against Cancer and Covid-19 was organized at Chelairu Panchayath Sabha Bhavan for local women on September 13, 2021. The programme began with a prayer led by Jyothi Daya SHG members of CODP.

Lenet Gonsalves, programme manager of CODP; Shilpa DSouza, SPARSHA coordinator; Rekha, Chelairu Gram Panchayath member; Pushpaveni, animator CODP; and Hithakshi, tailoring instructor were present on the dais.

Celine DSouza, SHG member welcomed the gathering. Shilpa took up the session on Cancer and explained about its treatment and prevention. A video documentary on cancer prepared by CODP was shown to the participants.

Another session was taken on Covid-19 by Lenet. As it is a prevailing pandemic, awareness was given to the people regarding SMS protocol such as social distancing, use of face masks and sanitizers, and also to avoid big gatherings.

Certificates were also distributed to women candidates who had undergone a month-long training in tailoring organized by CODP. Asha Rodrigues, compered the program and Molly Furtado proposed the vote of thanks. As many as 46 participants attended the programme.
