Bengaluru: Corona tests - Legislators complain of collection of bribes at airports

Bengaluru, Sep 16: MLAs have accused the staff at the airport of illegally collecting huge amounts of bribe in the name of corona tests.

Anglo Indian MLA Vinisha Nero, said that she had paid Rs 9,000 for a test costing Rs 800. Shantinagar MLA N A Haris, said that the staff at the airport force people to get Abbot Covid rapid test done which costs Rs 3,200.

Haris, who raised the issue through a call attention motion, alleged that the passengers going abroad are told to undergo the tests at the airport. He also said that reports generated elsewhere are rejected. "At the airports, RT-PCR tests are priced at Rs 800. However, people have to wait for five hours for the result. The staff suggest to the passengers to get rapid antigen tests costing Rs 3,200 and thereby fleecing them," he said in the assembly.
