Udupi, Sep 15: The district administration and the health department will hold a mega Covid-19 vaccination drive on September 17 for those above 18 years of age.

As of now, the district has received 80,000 vaccines. It has been distributed to 300 vaccine centers including the gram panchayats and city limits health centers.

"As many as 1,58,000 people are yet to receive the first dose of vaccines and 33,266 people the second dose,” informed deputy commissioner Kurma Rao.

He was speaking in a press meet at zilla panchayat here on Wednesday September 15.

He said, “In Udupi district, vaccine for above 18 years target is 10,02,762. As many as 8,47,940 (84.6%) people have obtained the first dose of vaccine and 3,45,558 (34.5%)people have received the second dose.

“Several health workers will take part in this mega vaccination drive. Those who have not taken the first dose of vaccine and completed 84 days after receiving the first dose of vaccine, can take part in this drive,” he said.

In regard to the vaccination drive, there will be a phone-in programme on September 16 from 10 am to 11 am. Zilla panchayat CEO Dr Naveen Bhat and World Health Organization advisor Dr Ashwini will take part in the programme.
