Bengaluru, Sep 15: Advocates representing the state road transport corporations told the high court that suits have been filed in the city civil court here to recover losses caused by the unauthorised strike resorted to by the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) and other transport corporations.

A public interest litigation filed by an organization, 'Samarpana', seeking orders from the high court to recover losses caused by the strike from the employees themselves came up for hearing on Tuesday September 14 before a bench of the high court presided over by acting Chief Justice, Satish Chandra Sharma.

Advocates for the road transport corporations and Bangalore Metro Transport Corporation said that the employees union had resorted to strike without prior authorization from December 11 to 14, 2020 in which 3,676 employees took part, 23 BMTC buses were damaged. They said that 12 first information reports and 11 non cognizable reports have been filed and in 43 cases action has already been taken. They said that suits have been filed to recover loss of 2.66 crore. Suspension orders had been issued against 2,494 employees as the employees went on unauthorised strike again from April 7 to 21 and disciplinary action has been taken against those who went on strike.

The bench which recorded these details, disposed of the public interest litigation as it felt there is no need for the court to issue additional directions as the KSRTC and BMTC have already taken necessary measures.
